... I WILL RESTORE GLORY DAYS AT PIRATES – XABA
MANZINI – They say a new broom sweeps cleaner, and optimism is palpable regarding the appointment of Thulani Xaba as the new president of Moneni Pirates.
Xaba was officially introduced to over 100 supporters at Manzini Club yesterday, succeeding Osborne Nzima, who led the club in the previous season. In his speech, Xaba touched on several pivotal issues, notably his commitment to restoring the club’s former glory. “The spirit of the Buccaneers courses through my veins and remains unbroken. The club is integral to my identity, and I am honoured to be entrusted with this leadership role,” Xaba asserted.
He emphasised their resolute intention to realise their vision. “We aim to resurrect the glory days. We are here not merely to participate but to dominate. Success requires more than skill and talent; it demands unity, dedication and unwavering commitment.” Xaba underscored the necessity of reconnecting the team with its supporters, recognising them as the emotional owners of the club. “The team must return to its supporters; we had strayed from this fundamental bond. Our supporters must feel an intrinsic part of the team,” he added.
He mentioned plans to collaborate with schools and the wider community to nurture and harness local talent. Additionally, he stated the intention to ensure that the team has comprehensive representation, establishing four branches across Eswatini’s regions. “The role of these branches is to guarantee that supporters attend matches. We will actively seek support from our loyal fanbase to contribute to the team’s success,” he remarked.
Xaba acknowledged the weight of expectation on the club, but cautioned supporters to be prepared for both triumphs and setbacks throughout the season. He urged fans to grant the coaching staff and management the time needed to fulfil the promises made. “We have imparted a singular mandate to the players; they must win games.” He also requested that management prioritise the welfare of the players, as their performance is paramount. “True success is measured by our achievements on the field of play,” he concluded.
