MBABANE – It is a sigh of relief for fans, as gate entry fees will not be increased.
This is contrary to an earlier proposal. Two months ago, it was reported that ticket prices for MTN Premier League matches would start at E40, with double-headers costing up to E60. This proposed decision was discussed during one of the PLE Special General Meetings (SGM) held in June. Following this, some fans expressed their disgruntlement over the proposed gate entry fee increase. However, PLE Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Pat Vilakati has cleared the air, ahead of the season.

remain

Vilakati informed this publication that prices will remain the same as last season as per the 2024/25 MTN Premier League Rules and Regulations. It is understood that the rules are still awaiting approval from the Eswatini Football Association (EFA). According to the previous seasons gate entrance regulations, entrance fees at all Premier League matches stood at a minimum charge of E30 for a Category B or higher single match and a minimum of E40 for a Category A single header.Meanwhile, entrance fees at all NFD matches were a minimum of E20 for a Category B or higher single match and a minimum of E30 for a Category A single header. “Entrance fees at double-header matches shall be a minimum of E50 for all Premier League and a minimum of E30 for all NFD matches,” reads part of Article 49.

triple-header

It is worth noting that the proposed new price rates from June did not come into effect during the 8Bet Trade Fair Cup. Double-header matches remained at E50, while triple-header matches cost E60.Meanwhile, Eswatini National Supporters Committee (ENCA) Chairman Menzi ‘Madlakadlaka’ Dladla described this as good news. Dladla said gate entry prices needed to be balanced with the value of the product which PLE is selling. “It’s a great decision because hiking the price could have affected the numbers in stadiums, which are still trying to pick up after COVID-19,” the Chairman said.
