MBABANE – A new chapter.

This is the story of former Mbabane Highlanders and Mbabane Swallows player, Sanele ‘Abidal’ Mkhweli, who has joined security forces side Young Buffaloes.  The experienced left back had signed a short-term contract with Manzini Sea Birds before catching the eye of Young Buffaloes. Sources close to the ‘Amathole Ezinyathi’ revealed that Mkhweli had been training with the team for the past month under the keen watch of head coach Dominic Kunene and his technical staff.

“The addition of Sanele Mkhweli to the Young Buffaloes team has been confirmed, following the successful completion of his medical examination at Phocweni. “The experienced left-back is set to make his debut for the team in today’s (last Sunday’s) quarter-final match against Green Mamba in the 8Bet tournament at the Mavuso Sports Centre,” shared the source.
Meanwhile, when approac- hed for comment, Mkhweli confirmed his transfer, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the trust the club has placed in his abilities. He said he is eager to make a significant impact on the team’s success moving forward.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join Young Buffaloes, a team renowned for its strength and competitiveness in the league. For me it’s truly an honour to be part of Young Buffaloes’ football family, and eager to hit the ground running and make a meaningful contribution,” he added. The news of Mkhweli’s signing was also confirmed by Young Buffaloes’ Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Sandile Gwebu.

Contract

While Gwebu acknowledged the addition of the former Mbabane Swallows player to the squad, he remained tight-lipped regarding the specifics of the contract and declined to provide further details about the agreement. “Sanele Mkhweli has signed for the team and we are happy with what we have seen form him so far,” he said. Meanwhile, Mkhweli was with Manzini Sea Birds for one year before his contract expired early this year at the end of June. The experienced player  had signed the one-year deal with ‘Izinyoni Zolwandle’ in August last year, where his services assisted the side in retaining their Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) status.
