MBABANE – The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) has distanced itself from the ongoing relegation saga between Manzini Wanderers and Denver Sundowns.

The EFA was reacting to the letter that was written by the maroon and white hub giants seeking that they stop all Moneni Pirates MTN Premier League games, pending finality of the matter at the High Court. The marathon matter between the two hub rivals is still pending at the High Court after Jimoh Moses’ representatives LN Dlamini and Associates requested that Judge Bonginkosi Magagula recuse himself from the matter.

They alleged that he had ties with one of Wanderers’ officials. According to Charlie ‘Minga’ Jele, from SM Jele Attorneys their client, which is Wanderers, was disturbed by the attitude of the EFA of ignoring the court case and allowing the fixture of Moneni Pirates to proceed. The EFA Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi ‘Rhoo’ Radebe said the local football mother body was not happy by the allegations made by Wanderers’ representatives on not stopping the Christopher Ennin charges’ matches. “We as EFA are not responsible for fixtures as we are not in the business of playing matches as it the duty of the PLE to make fixtures for the teams,” Radebe said.

“That letter was wrongly addressed it should have been directed to the Premier League of Eswatini,” he explained. Meanwhile, Jele acknowledged the mistake, highlighting that it was a typo as the letter was intended to the PLE Football Manager and Acting Chief Executive Officer Pat Vilakati. Vilakati, on the other hand, could not be reached for comments on the matter.
