EOCGA SPORTS ADMIN LEVEL 1 GRADUATES AWARDED

LOCAL – You reap what you sow!

This is the story of the 77 graduates, who were awarded their Certificates of Excellence for Sports Administration Course level One during a graduation ceremony, which was held at the OlympiAfrica in Lobamba yesterday. The graduates included principals from across the country, journalists from the different media houses in Eswatini and representatives from the different National Federations. They were handed over their certificates by the Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) President Adam ‘Bomber’ Mthethwa. The Athletics Eswatini (AE) President Zakhele Dlamini was also among the invited guests, who had the privilege of awarding the top students who excelled in the course.

It is worth mentioning that 21 students got passes, 27 got credits and 29 were awarded with distinctions. Fifty-six students are said to proceed to Level 2 of the Sports Administration Course as they were able to get 70 per cent and above. The course saw 41 ladies taking part and sat for the examination.

Importance

Mthethwa stressed the importance of the course and congratulated all the students who were awarded their certificates. “We just want to thank you all for your commitment to undergo this training. You have learnt about strategic planning and good governance. You will be able to do all that through the knowledge that you have acquired here. As people who have taken this course, we are now relying on administering your own associations the best way you can,” Mthethwa said. He went on to share that graduates should make means of improving  associations in the country as sports help a lot in the development of every athlete.

“We hope you will come up with meaningful strategies that will help your associations with development going forward,” he said. Meanwhile, EOCGA Sports Administrator Pearl Dlamini said they hoped that all the graduates would go out and apply all the sporting principles that they learnt during the course. “Sports can change an individual’s life. We hope you will take whatever that you learnt and go implement it in your schools and Federations,” Dlamini said.

Speaking on behalf of the National Federations, was the Eswatini Swimming Association (ESA) Secretary General (SG) Nozipho Mahlalela, who extended appreciation to EOCGA and the sports administrators Thoba Mazibuko and Pearl Dlamini for taking their time and effort in giving lecturers throughout the course. “We just want to extend our gratitude to our lecturers and EOCGA as a whole for organising such a course for us. There is so much talent that was unveiled here and we promise to do good by going back to our Federations and do exactly what we learnt here. The course was an eye opener to us in so many aspects and we really appreciate,” Mahlalela said.
