MANZINI – They are joining the SARGE wagon!

This is the story of Safrican Insurance Company and Instacash that have joined the list of companies which are sponsoring the Social and Recreational Games Eswatini (SARGE). The two entities were unveiled as the sponsor of the inaugural 2024 Sugar cane Outgrowers Social and Recreational Football Tournament. The launch was held at the Manzini Club yesterday.
The tournament, according to SARGE President Nathi Dlamini, will be played by sugar cane growers from the Lower Usuthu Smallholder Irrigation Project (LUSIP) zone and those from the Nkomazi Basin.

It is sponsored to a tune of E240 000, which will be spread over three years. “Safrican was the first company to buy into the idea of sponsoring this big tournament, which is going to be played by sugar cane farmers across the country,” Nathi said. The president said they were happy as organisers of social and recreational games in the country to present such a nation-building competition in partnership with Safrican and Instacash. “Instacash, as our partner in the tournament, has promised to also purchase soccer jerseys for both the LUSIP and Nkomazi champions, while Clearout Sports and Fashion has donated a trophy worth E1 500,” he said.

Diseases

Nathi said the tournament would not only help in nation-building, but will also act as a driver to curb the ever-growing number of non-commucable diseases (NCD).  Meanwhile, Safrican Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Simile Khumalo said the concept by SARGE to host a tournament for farmers is unique and that is the reason they accepted to sponsor it when the organisation presented it to them.  “I would like to thank SARGE for choosing the farmers as they play a huge role in the country’s economy. It is a pleasure, therefore, as Safrican to be part of such a huge tournament as an anchor sponsor,” Khumalo said.

She revealed the above-mentioned sponsorship package. “We are officially launching the tournament and we want to assure you that it will grow bigger and stronger in the next three years,” she said. She further wished SARGE as well as all the teams participating the best of luck during the course of the competition.Instacash Agent Manager Nozibusiso ‘Nozi’ Dlamini, on the other hand, said they are in support of the initiative by SARGE and they are contributing E10 000 and two soccer kits for this edition.
The tournament will officially kick off on October 5, 2024, in Siphofaneni for the LUSIP Zone. For the Nkomanzi Basin, it will start a week later.
