The event will feature five distinct distances. These are the 5km, 30km, 50km, 90km, and 120km events. The 5km race is designated for children, while the 120km distance will showcase elite and Under-23 men vying for the coveted title of ‘King of the Lowveld.’ The elite and Under-23 women will compete fiercely over the 90km course. With over 10 race categories, cyclists of all abilities will have the opportunity to ascend to the podium. “Our race is designed to be inclusive for both competitive and social cyclists, enabling everyone to compete according to their capabilities. This broadens the focus from solely elite competitors to include recreational riders,” explained Kaudi.
The first 100 paid entrants will be rewarded with an exclusive ‘Super Star’ race pack, containing vital race essentials and cherished keepsakes. All podium finishers will receive monetary prizes, with the overall victor claiming a trophy, cash prize and a distinctive commemorative item. “Details regarding the prize money will be disclosed alongside our event sponsors in the coming days. We are diligently enhancing the event, which has postponed the announcement, but I assure cyclists that this will be one of the most unforgettable races in the kingdom, significantly contributing to the advancement of cycling,” enthused Kaudi.
All eight registered cycling teams within the kingdom have been invited and have confirmed their participation. The event is expected to draw approximately 150 cyclists, including competitors from neighbouring countries such as South Africa and Mozambique. “Our event is expanding, and we’ve been in contact with teams and clubs across the border who are eager to participate.
