DR FUTHI SURVIVOR IN DEADLY CRASH

MBABANE – It has come to light that the second individual involved in the car accident that claimed the life of Doctor Malvern Masango, is another medical professional and top cycling official.

This marks the second individual linked to the incident that resulted in Masango’s death at Mfabantfu on Saturday. The survivor was identified as Dr Futhi Dlamini, who is MTN Khemani Cycling Club President.

“We are still shocked and sad. We are physically and emotionally recovering and wish it had not happened. “We send condolences to his family and members of khemani Cycling Team.
“There should be an understanding among all road users that they should be willing to share the use of the road with others,” said Dr Dlamini.Meanwhile, the accused appeared in court facing charges of contravening Section 89(1), read in conjunction with Section 122(7) of the Road Traffic Act 6 of 2007.  

As per the charge sheet, on September 28, 2024, in the vicinity of Mfabantfu along the MR 3 public road in the Manzini District, the accused, driving a motor vehicle registered GSD 002 TC, a Land Cruiser LDV, wrongfully, unlawfully, and negligently operated the vehicle, colliding with a cyclist, Dr Futhi Dlamini, aged 62, from the Mahlanya, thereby contravening the aforementioned Act,” reads a charge sheet, that was read to the man accused of killing Dr Masango. He appeared before the Manzini Magistrates Court, and admitted to E5 000 bail, yesterday.
