MBABANE - Manzini Wanderers forward Sphamandla Dhlamini has decided to resign from the club and seeks recourse from the Player Status Committee (PSC).

The dynamic midfielder who joined Wanderers  in the 2023/2024 MTN Premier League season from Tambankulu Callies, who are  now known as Red Rhinos, has reportedly made a  move by resigning from the team and filing a complaint with the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Players Status Committee (PSC). According to reliable sources, Dhlamini sent his resignation letter, recently. “Sphamandla Dhlamini’s decision to resign from Manzini Wanderers stemmed from the club’s failure to honour certain contractual obligations.

Resignation

“After his resignation, Dhlamini also chose to take his case to the EFA Players Status Committee, where the team has been summoned to appear on Monday. “Given the player’s loyalty and dedication to the team, coupled with the need to provide for his family, his grievances warrant serious attention and a fair resolution,” the source said. A source close to the situation revealed that Dhlamini, previously associated with South Africa’s University of Pretoria, has been training with Ezulwini United for the past two weeks, indicating a potential transfer.

The former Umkhonto KaShaka player was reportedly among the Wanderers players who went unpaid for the better part of the previous season due to the club’s financial struggles.“It is noteworthy that Sphamandla not only played throughout the unpaid season, but also participated in the 8Bet Trade Fair Cup, demonstrating his commitment to the team and his passion for the club,” the source added. Meanwhile, confirming the news of Sphamandla Dhlamini’s resignation, Wanderers Team Manager Elvis Dlamini acknowledged to the publication that the player had indeed resigned, with the intention of pursuing a transfer to Ezulwini United.

Unfortunate

“It’s true, Siphamandla Dhlamini has resigned from our team. As much as we would have loved to keep him, as he was one of our key players, the unfortunate financial situation at the club makes it impossible for us to do so. We will honour his wish and release him, while continuing to seek solutions to our financial difficulties,” he said. Filing a complaint with the PSC is often a last resort for players who feel their rights have been violated or their contracts have been breached. This can occur when clubs fail to fulfil their obligations, such as paying wages or following proper termination procedures.

Players may turn to the PSC for assistance in resolving disputes and protecting their rights, especially when other avenues of negotiation have been exhausted or proven ineffective. The PSC serves as a neutral, third-party body that can mediate between players and clubs, to ensure fairness and justice within the sport. Dhlamini could not be drawn for comment at the time of compiling this report.
