‘BIRDS’ THANKFUL FOR ‘GIVEN’ BLOOD DONATIONS
MBABANE – “We are truly grateful as Umkhonto KaShaka.”
These were the words of Mbabane Swallows Public Relations Officer (PRO) Knowledge ‘Bhambo’ Ngwenya when thanking football supporters and the nation at large for donating blood for injured player Mcolisi ‘Given’ Lukhele. The red and white capital city giants and former Malanti Chiefs player was involved in a car accident, this past Sunday, along the Buhleni-Msahweni Road. Swallows had earlier requested supporters and the nation to donate blood for Lukhele. The attacking Swallows player was involved in the crash on his way from watching a soccer match at the Mkhuzweni Technical Centre. He is currently admitted to the Pigg’s Peak Government Hospital.
Speaking on the Voice of the Church (VOC) Sports Show, hosted by Thabiso Shabangu, Ngwenya confirmed Lukhele’s injury and revealed that after consulting with doctors, they were told that he lost a lot of blood. “We requested our supporters and the nation at large to support us by donating blood for the players. I would like to thank all those who took their time to donate, as we have received a massive response,” Ngwenya said. He said they were praying that the donated blood would help the player. “According to the doctors, there were many operations being done on Lukhele. “The donations will help other emaSwati who need blood,” he said. Meanwhile, Moneni Pirates also urged their supporters and the nation to donate to the Swallows player.
