TEAMS LAUD GAMES BROADCAST
MBABANE – Teams are optimistic that the tripartite partnership between Eswatini Television Authority (Eswatini TV), the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) and MTN will yield fruitful results in the future.
Green Mamba Chief Executive Officer Mandla Sibiya expressed enthusiasm, stating: “It’s a marketing opportunity for the teams, as people can enjoy football from the comfort of their homes. It’s a commendable move for the country as a whole, but teams should have a stake in the broadcasting venture. It sounds promising if it lasts the entire season.”
Meanwhile, Moneni Pirates Public Relations Officer (PRO) Meluleki ‘Sluga’ Simelane remarked that this initiative aims to enhance the visibility of local matches and engage a broader audience in Eswatini’s football landscape. “Matches will reach a wider audience, thereby increasing the exposure of local players and clubs. The initiative seeks to establish a fund for clubs, potentially attracting sponsors and providing financial support to teams.”
He further highlighted that this partnership will promote professionalism in local football, contributing to the overall elevation of the sport’s quality in Eswatini. Nsingizini Hotspurs PRO Sibusiso ‘Mnotfo’ Dlamini added, “It would be beneficial for them to allocate time to market the players and clubs, as well as the league itself. We hope that companies will be attracted to the idea and recognise that football is a viable business in these times.”
