LOGARUSIC ‘BLACKLIST’ THREAT FOR BIRDS STAR
MBABANE – “It will be a disaster if he plays for his team.”
These were the words of the national team Sihlangu Head Coach, Zdravko Logarusic, when reacting on the failure of Mbabane Swallows’ Bongi ‘Karas’ Magagula to show up at the squad’s camp. Sihlangu went into full-time camp, this past Sunday at the Lobamba Technical Centre. Sihlangu were in camp preparing for the back-to-back African Nations Championship (CHAN) Qualifiers against Zimbabwe. They will leave for the first leg match, today. It will be played in Francistown, Botswana, on Sunday. The return match, which will be hosted by Eswatini, will be played at Mbombela Stadium, three days later.
The Croatian gaffer, speaking during Sihlangu Media Day, which was held at Mavuso Sports Centre, this past Wednesday, said, it would be a disaster should ‘Karas’ play for his team against Moneni Pirates in the MTN Premier league. Swallows visit Pirates in Big Bend, tomorrow. “I don’t know what to do with him, but should he play for his team, it will be a disaster. I also don’t know if I will call him again or not,” Logarusic said.
Performance
He revealed that the former Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows player was initially not included in the squad, but after his stellar performance against Green Mamba, he drafted him to be part of the team. “I called him for Sihlangu knowing that he was injured as we had organised a doctor to assess him, but unfortunately he did not come,” he said. Logarusic said he reported Magagula’s absence to the Manager Dumsani Sibandze, who tried reaching out to him, but his phone was off. “We didn’t get any information about him from his team too,” he added.
He further emphasised that he is not sure what the future holds for Magagula regarding the national team. “He was going to start the match,” he said. Meanwhile, Umkhonto KaShaka Public Relations Officer (PRO) Knowledge ‘Bhambo’ Ngwenya could not give a clear reason on why the player did not show up for Sihlangu.
