MBABANE – Despite not participating in the inaugural 8Bet Trade Fair Cup, National First Division (NFD) teams have something to celebrate.

According to news shared by the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) yesterday, the 13 teams currently in the lower division were each given E5 000. This sums to E65 000. The Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Pat Vilakati, explained that the teams ultimately received E3 000 each, with the remaining E2 000 directed towards match officiating fees. Vilakati said that this was done to assist teams in covering these fees, as it has been observed that they are struggling to pay them.

He informed the media that this is part of the Solidarity Fund initiative, which has begun to bear fruit. The CEO pointed out that through the profits earned from the eight-day tournament; they were able to take such small steps towards their goal of establishing monthly grants for its members. Vilakati was speaking during a media briefing after their special extraordinary assembly held yesterday at Sigwaca House.
