MBABANE- Capital city giants Mbabane Swallows player Bongi ‘Karas’ Magagula is set to face the wrath of the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) if the reports of faking an injury are true.

This was revealed by EFA President Peter ‘Samora’ Simelane during Sihlangu farewell function held this past Friday at the EFA technical centre, Lobamba. Sihlangu left the country yesterday morning to face Zimbabwe in the TotalEnergies Confederation of African Football (CAF) African Nations Championship (CHAN) Qualifier match to be held this Sunday, October 27, 2024, in Botswana.

“The EFA has got its own law that a disciplinary hearing is to be called upon a player who absents himself from the national team camp training and fakes an injury. This strictly applies when that particular individual fakes his injury, but plays in their next game in his home team,” Simelane said. “In the past few years, we had the same incident where players claimed to be injured, but were then seen playing for their home teams. We instilled discipline among them. We denied them a chance to play in their home teams. Nevertheless, we are still going to investigate the matter to find out what really happened and then we will take it from there,” he added.

If the former Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows striker plays in today’s game when his team face Moneni Pirates at Mayaluka stadium, Simelane said he would be hauled for a disciplinary hearing. Meanwhile, Simelane revealed that CAF meeting went well in Ethiopia and the member association money was increased by 50 per cent.“This money is meant to develop football in the African countries. We hope such funds will improve football in the country,” he narrated.

He went on to highlight that CAF also promised to extend a helping hand for Eswatini to have a standard stadium. “We still have not met the required standard regarding our sporting fields; we still host our matches outside the country. CAF promised that it will extend a helping hand in making sure that each country has an advanced stadium that meets all the CAF requirements,” he said.“Somhlolo is almost getting there; government has helped us in pushing up the structure. The only thing left is for the construction companies to speed up their work, probably by the end of this year, we will be able to host CAF matches in the country.” However, this kind of disciplinary or rule is not observed in the FIFA calendar.
