SCARA THINDWA FOUNDATION’S BEST PLAYER FOR FA CUP
MATSAPHA – Lifetime opportunities in the horizons for local youngsters.
This is after former Eswatini and South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs Legendary striker Absalom ‘Scara’ Thindwa said they are working on building a partnership to create opportunities for top players from the KFC/Scara Thindwa Soccer Foundation. The former Bulembu Young Aces lethal striker revealed this during the prize presentation of the 2024 KFC/Scara Thindwa Soccer Foundation Competition, which was held at the Matsapha Lifestyle Centre, yesterday.
The event was attended by the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, Bongani Nzima, minister of Education and Training Senior Acting Sports and Culture Inspector Thandi Nkambule, Eswatini Sports and Recreation Council Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Darius Dlomo, Eswatini Schools Sports Association (ESSA) President Zakhele Myeni, as well as pupils and teachers from the outstanding schools. Thindwa thanked their sponsor KFC, for the continued support towards the development of the sport in the country. “The best-performing player from the boy’s section will get an opportunity to watch the FA Cup, as we want to build a relationship with English Premiership sides,” Thindwa said.

He said in the future, such relationships will present the youngsters a chance to get an attachment to one of the big teams in England. The legend said the main aim of the foundation is to produce players for the national team Sihlangu every four years and they are projecting that Sihlangu should have players with ages ranging from 17 years. “We would also like to make a point that coaches working with the pupils are given proper training so that we can attain that goal of promoting players for Sihlangu,” he added.
