MINISTRY GETS E84K SPORTING KITS FROM INDIA
MBABANE – Blessed is the hand that gives than the one that takes.
The above adage sounds true to the High Commission of India after donating sports equipment to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, this past Friday. The event was held at the ministry’s premises at the Inter-ministerial complex in Mbabane. It was attended by Minister Pholile Shakantu as well as the staff; the equipment according to Communications Officer Sikhumbuzo Bhembe is for the ongoing SACU/SADC Intra-Regional Games, hosted in Matsapha. Bhembe revealed that they were expecting Lesotho and Zimbabwe for the games.
Presenting the equipment was High Commissioner N. Ram, who said in a step towards growing India-Eswatini bilateral relations, they felt that they should meet the country half as host of the games. “We handing sports items worth E84 320 as India’s goodwill contribution for the organisation of the games,” Ram said. He said the sport items included soccer, volleyball, netball kits, Golf Shirts as well as neck T-shirts aimed to empower and inspire the ministry’s teams in the games. “The High Commission of India conveys its good wishes for successful regional games. In true sporting tradition, may hard work, determination and team spirit lead to a memorable and rewarding experience for everyone involved,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Minister Shakantu thanked the Indian High Commission for the generous donation of the sport equipment, which is a testament to the strong and enduring ties between the two nations. “Sports play a crucial role in shaping character, fostering discipline and promoting teamwork,” Shakantu said. She said the donation would undoubtedly have a significant impact on the development of sports with her ministry. She also said it would provide the necessary tools and resources to train, compete and excel at the highest level.
