5 000 TICKETS FOR BIG DERBY
MBABANE – Anticipation is mounting ahead of the mother of all derbies in Eswatini.
The date for this eagerly- awaited clash between Mbabane Swallows and Mbabane Highlanders has now been officially confirmed. Reports indicate that approximately 5 000 tickets will be available for eager football fans keen to witness this fierce rivalry first-hand. The iconic Mavuso Sports Centre is set to host the match on Sunday, and excitement among supporters is palpable.Earlier, football enthusiasts expressed concerns regarding a potential scheduling conflict between the derby and Sihlangu’s busy fixture list.
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) international break is slated to run in the period November 11-15, yet it remains uncertain when Sihlangu will play their next match. Eliminated with two games to spare, Sihlangu are gearing up to continue their campaign in the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers, with plans to host Guinea-Bissau before travelling to Mali.
Meanwhile, the Acting Football Manager of the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE), Banele ‘Dings’ Masondo, confirmed the ticketing information yesterday, stating, “Only 5 000 tickets will be sold for the match.” Additionally, PLE’s Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Petros ‘Pat’ Vilakati, provided updates on the derby during the Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS) Sportshow, hosted by Siphesihle ‘Sihlabani’ Nxumalo, last Friday morning. “We have received permission to hold the derby on Sunday at 3pm. Further details regarding this match will be communicated from Monday,” he confirmed.
