MBABANE – Four referees from the country officiated in the ongoing TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nation Championship (CHAN).

Thulani ‘Goje’ Sibandze led the Eswatini top officials in the second leg game between Lesotho and Namibia, which was  played in Bloemfontein, South Africa yesterday. Sibandze was the designated centre-referee for the second leg fixture, where the first leg of the fixture produced a slim 1-0 victory for Lesotho, an advantage they carried into the return fixture.

Officiated

Sibandze, who is an International Federation of Association Football (FIFA)-accredited referee officiated the fixture alongside Thembinkosi ‘Dovos’ Dlamini. Dlamini was the designated fourth official for the match, while Thembinkhosi Magagula and Zamani Simelane assisted on the flanks as the linesmen for the game. Referees are rewarded handsomely for officiating in Confederation of African Football (CAF). The rate is US$1 200 per game, which is about E21 000.
