‘FELA’ BOOST FOR LEOPARD
MBABANE – Royal Leopard have received a timely boost in their pursuit of the MTN Premier League’s E100 000 first-round prize.
Three of the police side’s key players have recovered just in time for the next fixture. The eight-time league winners currently sit in second place, four points behind the leaders, Mbabane Swallows, who have played one match more than Leopard. Edwin Matsebula’s side are set to play in a catch-up match against Sidwashini United, tomorrow. This week six game will take place at Prince of Wales Sports Ground, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm. A victory in this match could see them just one point behind the top spot. Among the returning stars is marksman Felix ‘Fela’ Badenhorst, who has been given a clean bill of health.

Badenhorst had been sidelined due to a groin injury sustained while with the national team, Sihlangu, and consequently missed the 1-1 draw against Ezulwini United in week five. His last match was the 4-0 victory over Illovo, where he scored his first goal of the season. Also confirmed back in training are sharp shooter Banele ‘Neymar’ Shongwe and Sikhumbuzo Magagula.
The police side announced these updates through their official Facebook page, stating: “Banele, Sikhumbuzo and Felix are back at training.”
Meanwhile, General Manager and Public Relations Officer, Frank Hurube, confirmed these reports, adding that the players were part of the squad that played a friendly match against Lubombo Super League side, Ubombo Flyers, on Friday, where they secured a 2-1 victory. “Yes, they are back with the team ahead of the tricky fixture on Wednesday. Sidwashini are a closed book for us, but we are not for them. We’ll need to deliver positive results towards our goal, as it has been a while since we last won any silverware,” the GM stated.
