MBABANE – Ahead of their highly-anticipated MTN Premier League derby clash with rivals Mbabane Swallows on Sunday, Mbabane Highlanders have received a significant morale boost.

The long-awaited derby clash between Mbabane Swallows and Highlanders has been officially scheduled for Sunday at the renowned Mavuso Sports Centre, with approximately 5 000 tickets available for sale to eager fans. Earlier, football enthusiasts expressed concerns regarding a potential scheduling conflict between the derby and Sihlangu’s busy fixture list.

Intriguing

However, the latest developments have revealed an intriguing twist in the Highlanders team, as former Mbabane Swallows goalkeeper Qiniso ‘Kati’ Nyawo is reported to have returned to the Highlanders line-up after initially going absent without official leave (AWOL). Adding to the narrative, defender Vusi ‘Ramos’ Vilakati has also rejoined the squad for training, potentially bolstering the team’s defensive capabilities.

“The training sessions have been severe, and both Qiniso and Vusi have been giving it their all in preparation for the game against Mbabane Swallows on Sunday. While Vusi is still experiencing some pain when running, we are hopeful that he will recover in time to be eligible for selection over the weekend,” the source said. Additionally, a reliable source disclosed that Khwezi Matsebula, who joined the team earlier this season from Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows, has made a full recovery from an injury he sustained during a Premier League game against Manzini Sea Birds at Mavuso Sports Centre.

Discord

The Mthunzi Ginindza-led side have been grappling with internal discord and turmoil, leading to the suspension of training sessions by the club’s MD, Chief Ally Kgomongwe. The disruption in training was reportedly triggered by a conflict between Kgomongwe and the interim NSC Chairman Mfanzile ‘Fash’ Dlamini, who was allegedly leading a faction of supporters in an attempt to subvert Kgomongwe’s authority. In the wake of this rift, the club’s players have been forced to train on their own without the supervision of technical team members. Meanwhile, the capital city giants will be returning to the pitch following the international break, facing off against Young Buffaloes at Mkhuzweni Technical Centre, tomorrow at 3pm.
