BIG DERBY TICKET PRICING CONFUSION EXPLAINED
MANZINI – Supporters of the Mbabane derby found themselves in a state of bewilderment regarding the ticket prices, leading to widespread speculation about the discrepancies.
The Premier League office, under the stewardship of Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Pat ‘Kungumusa’ Vilakati, had initially announced that tickets for the derby would be priced at E50 at the stadium gate. However, this announcement sparked confusion among fans, as some were able to purchase tickets for a reduced price of E30 from various PLE ticket outlets. This inconsistency raised questions about the pricing structure and availability of tickets. In a thrilling match, Swallows ascended to the pinnacle of the MTN Premier League standings following a commanding 2-0 victory over their long-standing rivals, Highlanders.
Breached
The home side’s defence was breached twice by the formidable pairing of Mancoba ‘Nciba’ Vilakati and Siyabonga ‘Gusheshe’ Zwane, securing a well-deserved win for the visitors at the rain-soaked Mavuso Sports Centre. During an interview on yesterday’s Sports Show programme on Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS), hosted by the popular radio personality Siphesihle ‘Sihlabane Sebenguni’ Nxumalo, the acting CEO addressed the ticket pricing debacle. He explained that while preparations for the match were underway last Thursday, an announcement had been made regarding the E50 ticket price.
However, a technical error occurred during the ticket loading process, resulting in the confusion over pricing. the acting CEO took full responsibility for the oversight, acknowledging the mistake on their part. “We were fortunate that some supporters who had purchased tickets informed us on Sunday morning that they had bought tickets at differing prices: E30 and E50. We were then able to rectify the situation, and we apologised to all the football supporters for the mistake,” he stated.
