‘Y’ELLO’ LEAGUE TAKES A BREAK
MBABANE – Both MTN Premier League and National First Division (NFD) games will be frozen, this weekend, in respect of the international break.
The international break started yesterday. It will run until next Tuesday. Unlike previous breaks, even NFD teams will not be in action, except for the four teams that will be involved in replays, between tomorrow and Friday. Lozitha Spurs welcome All Nations at Prince of Wales, tomorrow at 3pm. High-flying Malanti Chiefs, on the other hand, visit neighbours Pigg’s Peak Rangers in a derby at Killarney Sports Ground, on Friday. Action gets underway at 3pm.
In a statement, the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE), through Acting Chief Executive Officer Pat Vilakati, confirmed the suspension of the games, until next weekend. “MTN PLE games will resume on the weekend of 23rd/24th November 2024,” reads a statement from the PLE in part. Heading into the break, Swallows are at the top of the charts in the MTN Premier League with 18 points in seven outings. They are forced to look over their shoulders by Royal Leopard, who are just a point behind, after the same number of matches. The latter are the only unbeaten side in the league.
Meanwhile, in this international break, Sihlangu will play their last two ‘dead rubber’ Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying fixtures against Guinea-Bissau and Mali, in that order. The national football outfit, who were eliminated in the qualifiers with two games to spare, will face Guinea-Bissau, on Friday at 6pm, before visiting Mali, next Tuesday.
