BIG MEET TOMORROW FOR MANZINI WANDERERS
MBABANE - Fans of Manzini Wanderers will be informed about the ongoing issues facing the club, tomorrow.
Since May 19, 2024, supporters have had just one chance to witness their team in action - on September 1 during the 8Bet Trade Fair Cup match against Nsingizini Hotspurs, which resulted in a disappointing defeat. Over the past six months, the maroon and white ensemble have been vigorously engaged in a legal battle against Denver Sundowns, a dispute they ultimately triumphed in to secure their position in the Premier League. However, due to ongoing appeals, the matter continues to linger, leaving the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) unable to confirm their placement in either the MTN Premier League or the National First Division (NFD).The ‘Weslians’ finished at the bottom of the 2023/24 MTN Premier League charts, and should they lose the court proceedings, they will be relegated to the NFD. Given these circumstances, the legal team, headed by Lawyer Sifiso ‘Charlie’ Jele, has decided it is essential to update the fans on the latest developments.
Tomorrow
Consequently, the National Supporters Committee (NSC) has called for a meeting to be held at Caritas in Manzini, tomorrow at 1pm. This meeting has been arranged following discussions with the Management Committee (MC). NSC Secretary Sizwe ‘Motaung’ Shongwe has confirmed the meeting, stating that one of the agenda items will be for the legal team to explain why Wanderers has yet to play three months into the new season. Shongwe acknowledged that the lack of communication from the club has led to considerable frustration among fans.
He added that supporters will have the opportunity to voice their opinions or propose a resolution regarding the situation. Approximately 16 branches of Wanderers supporters are expected to attend the meeting. Another item on the agenda will be the renewal of membership cards.
