‘BULL’ PATRONS OBJECTING ALLY’S SA MEETING
MBABANE – Amid the ongoing internal strife, Mbabane Highlanders patrons have stated that they will not travel to Pretoria, South Africa, to conclude discussions with their boss.
This was said by the Patrons Chairman, Thembinkosi Mamba, and yesterday morning on national radio. It is worth noting that they had met the Managing Director (MD) Chief Ally Kgomongwe in Pretoria, about a fortnight ago, to discuss on a way forward. “We have asked him to come this side, but he is unable to do so. We’ve heard he requests that we go to Pretoria, but we will never do that because we made agreements here, in the country, as well as with the club. So we think it would be not alright that we meet in Pretoria,” Mamba said.
Agreement
The chairman mentioned that if they do not reach an agreement, arbitration might be needed due to the ongoing internal issues. He said they will be patient with him and believe he will eventually show up. “If he never shows up, Inkuzi Emnyama will make a decision,” Mamba said. He urged all stakeholders to be patient, as the team is run as a company and they cannot make decisions without considering the consequences. He also expressed sadness on their ongoing troubles.
Mamba added that initially, Kgomongwe was to run the club on a five-year basis, but this was changed to a company under his ownership in a shareholding format. Kgomongwe holds 80 per cent of the shares, while patrons hold 10 per cent, with the same amount for fans. Regarding any mandate given to Kgomongwe on running the club, Mamba said it was not finalised as they ended up clashing during discussions. He said the director was eventually at a distance and they hoped they would finalise it as days go on.However, Chief Ally earlier this week said he was not travelling to Eswatini as per his legal team’s advice, which advised against it given the ongoing internal chaos.
