MBABANE – Jan ‘Be Good’ Simulambo, the former coach of Mbabane Highlanders, has paid tribute to the late Innocent ‘Ten Ten’ Ginindza, also known as Gadaffi.

Gadaffi, the late football star, notably excelled at Mbabane Highlanders under the guidance of Simulambo, affectionately known as the ‘Minister of Midfield’ in his home country, Zambia.
The former captain of Zambia’s national football team expressed his sorrow over the death of a player he had nurtured into becoming a household name at Mbabane Highlanders. Ginindza was laid to rest last weekend. Simulambo, who secured five trophies with the ‘Bull’, stated that he was deeply disheartened to learn that Eswatini’s biggest team has lost several key players.

He reminisced about his days as a player-coach at Mbabane Highlanders, playing alongside the late ‘Ten Ten’, ‘Schuster’ (Tholeni Nkambule), Cameroon ‘KK’ Zini, Mashabela Msimango, Obed ‘Foreman Power’ Mlotsa, Henry ‘Puma’ Kunene and others who are still alive, such as Simon ‘Harare’ Thwala, Piet ‘Bhusha’ Ncongwane, Nicodemus ‘Ace’ Mashwama, Charles ‘Ace’ Jele, and Richard ‘Defuse’ Lukhele, who was also known as Mshini. “The list is endless,” observed the coach.

He recounted that ‘Ten Ten’ was a slight lad when he arrived at Mbabane Highlanders, noting that Puma was among the senior players who guided him to stardom. Simulambo was particularly fond of Gadaffi for being a well-behaved, down-to-earth young man who never missed training sessions. Together with ‘Ten Ten’, Simulambo stated that they travelled across Africa participating in CAF matches. The 71-year-old former coach won the league with Mbabane Highlanders in 1984, 1986, and 1988, and also captured the Swazi Cup in 1983 and 1985.

He expressed his gratitude to Timothy Ginindza, a relative of the late ‘Ten Ten’, for his crucial role in bringing the young football star to the Black Bull of Mbabane.“Timothy entrusted us with the promising young lad named Innocent Ginindza, who later became known as Ten Ten,” he said. He extended his condolences to the Ginindza family—his wife, children, siblings, parents, friends and the Mbabane Highlanders - on the passing of ‘Ten Ten’.
