BULL TURMOIL: PATRONS CANNOT SUMMON DIRECTOR - ALLY

Mbabane Highlander Patrons Chairman, Thembinkosi Mamba says their meeting with their South Africa Managing Director (MD) Chief Ally Kgomongwe is just over an update of the progress report since he took over the team.Mamba said they want to hear it from the horse’s mouth as there are disturbing reports about the brand they sometimes hear about and get from the media.  “All we want to hear from him is just a current detailed report of the current situation from the club as he is the one we gave the team to. He is the one we could trust with the accurate information on the reports we get some about the struggles of the team. We understand that he might be having some challenges on coming to the country, but we remain patient that he will end up being able to do so. We have given him a certain period to try to heed to this call,’’ Mamba said.

The chairman did not like to disclose it to the media, as he believed the media ought not to be discussion table in such challenging times. He went on to say if Kgomongwe unfortunately fails to come and meet them, they would end up looking for other means to tackle issue at hand. Asked on whether the 20 per cent shareholders have capacity to compensate the MD, if situations be, he said perhaps the issue of price tags would be considered if it was involved at the initial phase.

Speaking on national radio Friday, Mamba said Kgomongwe was given the city giants in 2019, on a five-year deal. However, along the way, he then requested that it be registered as a company, where it fell under his leadership. He got 80 per cent shareholding with 20 per cent left with the team. Mamba holds 10 per cent on behalf of the patrons, while Public Relations Officer (PRO) Kenneth Dlamini, formerly National Supporters Committee (NSC) Chairman, hold 10 per cent on behalf of the fans. “If he would like to be compensated he has to surrender back the team, one would request him to give proof of how much he paid when he took it and whom he paid.The same would true also for even compensations on the expenditure (of around five years), as he will need to prove that,’’ Mamba said.

Asked about patrons ultimatum for the meeting, with possibilities to make a decision if he does not comply, he questioned the decision Mamba, as a patron, could possibly make. Kgomongwe pointed out that the transformation of the team into a corporate entity was executed in South Africa, thus necessitating their presence there for discussions.

As I speak to you, there are supporters who have travelled from Eswatini to South Africa; he must come here along with the others so we can address this matter.”When asked if he incurred any financial obligations during the transformation of Mbabane Highlanders into a corporate entity, he stated, “Were they selling the team Highlanders? I owned Ally Tigers and was in discussions with a few individuals. I think I need to consult my lawyer. One thing I can assert is that Mamba cannot summon a director.”Regarding previously mentioned expenditures of approximately E300 000 per month, he acknowledged that he used to spend about that amount, admitting it was sometimes excessive. He also emphasised that he was given a team under the impression that it was in dire canals, saying his surprise when they claimed he sold them a team.
