‘BULL’ NSC DISTANCES ITSELF FROM ‘SUPPORTERS’ ALLY VISIT
MBABANE – Mbabane Highlanders National Supporters Committee (NSC) have publicly disassociated themselves from a group of supporters who travelled to Pretoria to meet with their Managing Director (MD), Ally Kgomongwe.
The ongoing turbulence within Highlanders has escalated beyond the confines of the pitch, with an alleged group of supporters venturing to South Africa to meet with the club’s Managing Director in Pretoria. Led by the team’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Kenneth Dlamini, the group was reportedly joined by Manager Simiso ‘Space’ Jele and Head Coach Mthunzi Ginindza in an effort to discuss the challenges plaguing the team. Meanwhile, in a startling development, the Mbabane giants’ NSC led by chairman Mfanzile ‘ Fash’ Dlamini have distanced themselves from the supporters who travelled to South Africa, using their official Facebook page to denounce the trip and its purported purpose.
“The team National Supporters Committee (NSC) noted with shock that there are people who went to Pretoria to meet the director on behalf of the management committee and supporters. We want to make it clear that the National Supporters Committee did not send anyone to Pretoria on behalf of Mbabane Highlanders supporters; those people went on vacation in their personal capacity,” reads the statement in part. The statement went on to reveal that the office of the National Supporters Committee Chairman and Secretary confirmed that no one had been sent to Pretoria.
In a related article published by our sister publication yesterday, the Sunday Times, the South African managing director insisted that it is advisable for patrons to travel to Pretoria, South Africa (SA) for discussions. However, in a subsequent interview, Kgomongwe dismissed the statement issued on the Highlanders’ Facebook page as false, claiming that the page was hacked and that the news should not be given any credibility. When the NSC Chairman was asked whether the statement was false, as suggested by the Highlanders Director, he affirmed its authenticity, stating that it was issued by the NSC on behalf of the supporters.
“We had a good formal meeting here in Pretoria, and everyone has the proof that players are not owed three months’ salary, but only two months’ salaries,” he stated. Regarding the pressing matter of player salaries, the Highlanders boss adopted a cautious stance, indicating that the situation should be closely monitored. Kgomongwe’s reluctance to make any definitive statements on the issue is compounded by the fact that a contingent of supporters has purportedly expressed their intention to take over the team.
