MORE DRAMA AT BULL AS ... ALLY DISMISSES INTERIM MC
MBABANE – A new twist!
This is the unfolding saga of the capital city giants, Mbabane Highlanders, who have announced a new interim management committee (MC) without the endorsement of the team’s Managing Director (MD), Ally Kgomongwe. The announcement regarding the new MC was made yesterday via the team’s official Facebook page. “With the absence of the Management Committee in all the team’s activities, the Mbabane Highlanders FC family has been left with no choice but to involve a few members from our supporters in the office. We are pleased to introduce the following personnel as our interim management committee. These dedicated officials will oversee the day-to-day operations of the team until the situation normalises,” reads part of the statement.
The new management committee comprises of Makhosonkhe Gama as Conversely, Highlanders Managing Director Ally Kgomongwe has expressed his disapproval of the newly appointed interim MC. “This interim MC is non-existent; call the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) to check if they are aware of this,” stated Kgomongwe. Furthermore, PLE Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Pat Vilakati confirmed that they are unaware of the new Highlanders interim MC. Meanwhile, Thembinkosi Mamba, Chairman of the Patrons, affirmed the existence of a new interim management committee.
Implemented
“The reports regarding a new management committee are accurate, and this was implemented to ensure that the team continues to play while we address issues with our director, Ally Kgomongwe,” he stated. When asked if the patrons had informed the Highlanders’ MD, Mamba indicated that they had reached out on numerous occasions regarding the club’s issues. “But all I am saying is we are striving to serve Mbabane Highlanders as a club to prevent penalties for not honouring their fixtures,” he added. He further noted that the director had taken all the equipment necessary for the team’s preparations for the games, and they are working to resolve this matter to ensure the team can participate in upcoming matches. Mamba disclosed that the new management committee will commence its duties with immediate effect. It is crucial to highlight that this new committee does not include the previous members, which featured CEO Musa Masuku, manager Simiso Jele and Public Relations Officer (PRO) Kenneth Dlamini.
Mamba has disclosed that the new management committee will commence its duties with immediate effect. The turmoil at Highlanders is not unprecedented; for the past three weeks, the team’s patrons, the NSC, and the director have been at odds. Recently, the team sought the assistance of former Director Bheki ‘Rubber’ Simelane, who procured two new kits and facilitated transport for the games.
Resources
This intervention followed the Director, Kgomongwe’s failure to provide team jerseys, sprinters and other essential resources. He had previously stated that he refrained from supplying these items because he had requested the PLE to suspend their games while internal issues are being resolved. Furthermore, he indicated that he could not allocate resources to the team due to claims from some NSC members who expressed readiness to take over the team, leading him to withhold his assets. The drama escalated as the NSC and several players petitioned the PLE to allocate gate takings directly to the players instead of depositing them into the Director’s account.
