‘LOGA’ RESURFACES AFTER 11 DAYS, MUM
MANZINI – End of uncertainty.
The national team, Sihlangu, Head Zdravko ‘Loga’ Logarusic, has re-emerged after being reportedly absent without leave (AWOL) from work. This news broke on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. On that day, the men’s national team had travelled to Mpumalanga Province, South Africa, for their home game in the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Guinea-Bissau.The game was held at Mbombela Stadium on Friday, November 15, 2024. During the team’s departure at around 8pm on that Wednesday, Logarusic was noticeably absent. The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) stated that they were unaware of his whereabouts. However, unconfirmed reports suggested that EFA and ‘Loga’ were at loggerheads over unpaid allowances, which saw the coach hold back his services.

Consequently, Logarusic missed both the home game against Guinea-Bissau and the away fixture against Mali. Yesterday marked the end of his 11 days of uncertainty, as he was seen at Mavuso Sports Centre. An MTN Premier League double-header was played there. The first match featured Sisonkhe against Sidwashini United, while Moneni Pirates later took on Madlenya. During the matches, the national team coach was seated alongside Sihlangu Manager, Dumisani Sibandze. He was also seen driving his EFA-issued Toyota Cross.
When reached for comment, ‘Loga’ politely requested not to say anything.
The Croatian only mentioned that he had come to watch the games and referred any further queries to Sibandze. However, EFA Marketing and Communications Officer, Muzi ‘Rhoo’ Radebe, stated that there had been no changes to the known reality that ‘Loga’ is still Eswatini’s Head Coach. It is common practice for coaches to watch domestic league games to assess players for upcoming assignments. Sihlangu’s next assignment will be the second round of the TotalEnergies African Nations Championships (CHAN) qualifiers against Madagascar. The decisive back-to-back qualification clashes will be played before and after Christmas.
