SIHLANGU COACH ‘LOGA’ STAYS PUT
MBABANE - Zdravko Logarusic, the Croatian Coach of Eswatini’s national football team Sihlangu, has changed his mind about taking a vacation.
It has been gathered that the coach will remain to lead the side in their upcoming TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) matches against Madagascar. Earlier reports had suggested that Logarusic had planned to leave the country for a break, with a ticket allegedly purchased by the Eswatini Football Association (EFA). However, EFA’s Marketing and Communications Officer, Muzi ‘Rhoo’ Radebe, has confirmed that the coach is still in the country and will be on the bench for the crucial CHAN fixtures.
The first match against Madagascar is scheduled for December 21, at the Mbombela Stadium. The return leg is set for December 29, at a venue still to be confirmed. Notably, Madagascar currently does not have an internationally-approved stadium. Logarusic had missed Sihlangu’s recent TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier matches against Guinea-Bissau and Mali, with the team under the temporary leadership of Assistant Coach Sifiso ‘Nuro’ Ntibane.
Radebe stated that Logarusic is still the national team coach, and the Croatian will be responsible for guiding Sihlangu in their bid to secure a spot in the CHAN tournament. The upcoming matches against Madagascar will be crucial for Eswatini as they look to progress in the competition. An aggregate win will earn Sihlangu a historic place in the CHAN finals.
