LET THEM FEEL THE HEAT FIRST – ALLY
MBABANE – “I will bounce back.”
These were the words of MTN Premier League strugglers Mbabane Highlanders Managing Director (MD) Chief Ally Kgomongwe. He stated that he would definitely return to the club, but wants those currently in charge to feel the pressure. The South African businessman and politician was responding to the drama that unfolded at Mkhuzweni Technical Centre this past Saturday, where a faction of supporters took all the team’s share of the gate collections, amounting to E7 000. This incident occurred following a 1-all draw between Inkunzi’emnyama and rookies Sidwashini United, with supporters allegedly demanding a share of the day’s collections, claiming they needed the funds for various expenses.

“I was made aware that the supporters took the gate collection at Mkhuzweni and it’s better that they did not use force,” Kgomongwe remarked. The MD expressed his desire for the supporters to manage the black and white capital city giants until they truly comprehend the challenges of overseeing such a prominent club in local football. “Highlanders are a big team in Eswatini, which is supposed to be run professionally as I did, before the patrons decided to appoint their own management,” he alleged.
He emphasised that the current management should get their house in order for the benefit of the club, as he perceives the situation to resemble a family without a father.Meanwhile, the turmoil at the Sifiso ‘Barnes’ Mkhulisi-coached side escalated when certain supporters and players petitioned the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) to cease forwarding gate collections to Kgomongwe. The Chairman of Patrons, Thembinkosi Mamba, meanwhile, asserted that Kgomongwe should engage with them directly rather than through the media.
