SIWAKHILE, ‘PUMBA’ SETBACK
MBABANE – The struggling city giants, Mbabane Highlanders, have encountered a significant setback ahead of their pivotal fixture this weekend, as midfielder Siwakhile Shongwe has been suspended.
The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) imposed the suspension following Shongwe’s accumulation of three yellow cards. In accordance with the 2024/25 MTN League Rules and Regulations, any player who collects three yellow cards is automatically suspended for the next match. Highlanders and Hotspurs are set to clash tomorrow at the King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium, where Hotspurs will be aiming for maximum points to remain in contention for the E100 000 first-round incentive.
Defeat
Meanwhile, the Highlanders will be eager to avenge their 1-2 defeat in the second round of the 2023/24 season as they seek to return to winning form. However, they will have to face this challenge without their influential and skilful midfielder, Shongwe, against a side that will also be missing their midfield maestro, Bongiswa ‘Pumba’ Dlamini. In another match, Mbabane Swallows, who have recently welcomed back Karim Madja from suspension due to yellow cards, will be without Ghanaian defender Kingsley Kwakyi, as they host Sisonkhe tomorrow.
