SIHLANGU FINAL SQUAD: ‘ROMARIO’, MABELESA OUT, ‘THUBA’ INJURED
MBABANE – In the lead-up to tomorrow’s CHAN Qualifier against Madagascar, four players have reportedly been omitted from the squad that travelled to Pretoria, South Africa, yesterday.
The national team, Sihlangu, are set to face the islanders in the first leg of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers’ second preliminary round. The kick-off for this pivotal match is 6pm. It is scheduled for 6pm at the Lucas Moripe ‘Masterpieces’ Stadium tomorrow. Zdravko Logarusic’s 20-man squad departed yesterday, and according to sources, four players from the provisional squad were left behind. Among those omitted are Mbabane Swallows’ promising goalkeeper, Bongiswa ‘Romario’ Dlamini, and the Royal Leopard duo of Mlamuli ‘Mlaba’ Msibi and Mzwandile Mabelesa.
Prevented
Additionally, Thubelihle Mavuso from Nsingizini Hotspurs has been ruled out due to injury, which has prevented him from participating in any of Sihlangu’s training sessions. Meanwhile, the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Marketing and Communications Officer, Muzi ‘Rhoo’ Radebe, confirmed that Mavuso did indeed miss the Sihlangu camp due to injury. However, Radebe was unable to confirm the final names of the squad as he was still en route to Pretoria and had not yet received the final list. It is noteworthy that Madagascar arrived in Pretoria on Wednesday with a squad of 25 players, including six who were part of the team that secured bronze in the last edition of the tournament.
