‘LOGA’ VOTES VINICIUS, ‘AYOBA’ MISSES IT
MBABANE – The big question is how did Eswatini vote?
The national team, Sihlangu, Head Coach, Zdravko ‘Loga’ Logarusic, made a spot-on choice, while his captain, Sifiso ‘Ayoba’ Matse, saw his top pick miss out. This was during the voting of the recent FIFA Best Player Awards. Brazil and Real Madrid attacker, Vinicius Junior won it just four days ago after amassing 48 points. According to the voting results released by the international mother body, Vinicius received 438 votes from coaches of which one was a nod from ‘Loga’.
Sensation
The Croatian coach pla- ced FC Barcelona sensation, Lamine Yamal, as his second choice, with 2024 Ballon d’ Or winner and Manchester City’s and this year’s Ballon dÓr winner Rodri completing his top three. On the other hand, ‘Ayoba’ had his sights set on a midfielder as him. This was former Real Madrid star Toni Kroos who was his top pick. The German midfielder, however, finished in seventh place overall. ‘Ayoba’ then voted Vinicius as his second choice, with Argentina’s Lionel Messi rounding out his top three favourites.
In the end, it was Vinicius Junior who stole the spotlight, proving that ‘Loga’ had his finger on the pulse of football excellence.
