ESWATINI QUALIFY FOR MULTI-MILLION NETBALL TOURNEY
MBABANE – Following their recent success in the Africa Netball Cup, Eswatini has been shortlisted for a prestigious continental tournament scheduled for next year.
The Eswatini Men’s National Netball Team won silver in Namibia last weekend, establishing the country as one of netballs powerhouses in Africa. Consequently, one of the country’s female teams may participate in a lucrative event late next year.
This Vhafuyi Netball Academy, one of the continent’s biggest netball stakeholders has proposed an African Netball Super League competition to World Netball. The competition aims to bring together top 12 teams from across Africa, promoting netball excellence, empowering women and driving economic growth. It is set to be played over three weeks, starting from December 20, 2025. According to the proposal, Eswatini is among the eight countries expected to participate in the inaugural tournament, pending approval.

“The African Super League Netball Cup is an exciting initiative promoting African netball excellence, empowering women and driving economic growth. With a total prize money of R5 million, this tournament is poised to become a premier event in African netball,” Vhafuwi said. The final tournament will feature 12 teams, with the least-earning club receiving E250 000. The tournament promises direct incentives for players, with those bowing out in the round-robin stage proposed to receive E20 000, and winners potentially earning up to E160 000 each.

Top 12 teams players incentives:
- Players to be knocked out in the group stages get E20 000 each (US$1 085.80)
- Players to finish 4th get E41 000 (US$2 225.89) each
- Players to finish 3rd get E62 500 (US$3 393.13) each
- Players to finish 2nd get E100 000 (US$5 429) each
- Players to finish 1st get E160 000 (US$8 686.40) each
