MABELESA REPLACES AWOL ‘LOGWAJA’
MBABANE – Sihlangu Head Coach Zdravko Logarušic has made a notable adjustment to his squad by replacing Young Buffaloes winger Bongwa ‘Logwaja’ Matsebula.
Matsebula, who reportedly absented himself from training camp, has since been replaced by the versatile Mzwandile Mabelesa of Royal Leopard. In a succinct interview, the coach explained his decision to recall Mabelesa, citing his physical strength, experience and ability to manage high balls from opponents as key factors. “We believe that Mzwandile Mabelesa is the right fit for our upcoming match. His extensive experience and versatility on the field will undoubtedly add value to our team, providing essential support to our young central defenders.
“His capability to perform both as a defender and a defensive midfielder offers us the flexibility required to adapt to any situation during the match. We are confident that his inclusion in our line-up will enhance our chances of success,” Logarušic stated. The coach elaborated on his rationale for selecting Mabelesa, highlighting that the current squad already features several players with attacking flair and prowess on the wings. He believes that integrating a defensive player, well-suited to bolster the backline, is a strategic move to ensure a balanced team.
Versatile
“Our current squad boasts a number of gifted and versatile players, particularly in the wing positions. Individuals such as Bongi Magagula, Fanelo Mamba and Sambulo Simelane bring speed, skill and creativity to our attack, providing us with a diverse array of options on the wings. I am confident that we are well covered in this area, and Mabelesa’s defensive skills will only serve to strengthen our overall performance,” he added. The national outfit are set to face Madagascar in the second leg of their African Nations Championship in Mauritius on Sunday, following a 2-0 defeat in the first leg in Pretoria. After a well-deserved Christmas break, Sihlangu players were expected to return to the team’s training camp at noon yesterday.
Meanwhile, Mbabane Swallows goalkeeper Bongiswa ‘Romario’ Dlamini and Royal Leopard’s Mlamuli Msibi were dropped ahead of the CHAN first-leg game against Madagascar.
