DON’T LOSE HOPE – SIHLANGU CAPTAIN
MBABANE - Sihlangu Captain, Sifiso ‘Ayoba’ Matse, has urged the nation to remain steadfast and not to lose hope following their 2-0 defeat to Madagascar.
The first leg of the clash, held last Saturday at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, ended unfavourably for Sihlangu. The two goals conceded were the result of defensive lapses, with casual marking leading to the first and a misplaced backpass contributing to the second. Both goals came from Madagascar’s Cristiano and Feno, with the damage done in the first half.
Fight
“We have an injury-free squad here, and we understand what is expected of us as we look to overturn our defeat in the first leg. We are ready to fight as players, and the atmosphere within the camp is incredibly positive.” Matse said. Addressing concerns about the conditions in Mauritius, he remarked: “The temperatures are quite similar to those back home, so that shouldn’t have a significant impact on us. As for the artificial pitch, most of us are accustomed to it, having played there before, so I don’t foresee it being a negative factor. We did play on that pitch, losing 2-1 in our previous visit on June 11, 2024 against Mauritius.”
When asked what message he had for the nation in the wake of the 2-0 loss, Matse offered words of encouragement: “To our loyal supporters, we implore you not to lose hope because we have 90 minutes to transform our fortunes for the better.”
