ENNIN APOLOGISES TO FANS
MBABANE – Former Moneni Pirates coach Christopher Ennin, has lavished praise on the club’s supporters, describing them as the best since his arrival in Eswatini.
Recently, this publication exclusively reported that the former ‘Sea Robbers’ gaffer, who joined the club at the beginning of August, has unexpectedly resigned from his position. In an unexpected twist, reports from Ghana revealed that he is set to return to the Ghanaian Premier League, where he is poised to join Samartex FC on a two-year contract. This was confirmed when the club announced his appointment on their Facebook page yesterday morning. In a deeply emotional interview, Ennin fought back tears as he expressed his heartfelt gratitude and sorrow towards the loyal Moneni Pirates fans.
“I consider it a great privilege to use this platform to apologise to the wonderful Moneni Pirates family and all the supporters, especially those who stood by me during my challenging times with the club. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. It has always been my dream to work with a prestigious club like Pirates,” he stated.

The gaffer went on to express that despite his best efforts, the timing was not right. “I am truly sorry. If it is God’s will for me to return in the future, it will come to pass. I apologise to all my loved ones. Thank you for your unwavering support. May you all live long and be blessed; I love you all. I have never encountered supporters as incredible as those of Moneni Pirates FC. Thank you all. Stay blessed. I love you all,” he added. Ennin’s tenure at Pirates began on a high note, leading the team to the finals of the 8Bet Trade Fair Cup, where they narrowly lost to Young Buffaloes. At the time of his departure, the team was fifth in the league, having accumulated 18 points, just seven points behind the log leaders, Royal Leopard, who sit on 25 points.
In an effort to swiftly fill the coaching vacancy, Moneni Pirates are reportedly considering two potential candidates: departing Mbabane Swallows Coach Caleb ‘No Nonsense’ Ngwenya and former Pirates Coach Ikabort Masocha. The team, currently without a coach, returned to their training base on Saturday morning, preparing for their first MTN Premier League match of the year against Ezulwini United this Saturday at Mavuso Sports Centre. Amid the excitement of a new season, the club is eager to announce the appointment of a new coach before the end of the week. The team will need to hit the ground running under their new leader as they aim for a strong start to the 2025 campaign.
