SARGE RAKES IN OVER E200K SPONSORSHIPS IN 2024
MBABANE - SARGE has wrapped up the year 2024 with an impressive display of success, having amassed a substantial E215 000 in sponsorship contributions.
This significant financial backing facilitated a series of engaging social football tournaments throughout the country, effectively fostering community spirit and promoting healthier lifestyles. Leading the charge was Instacash, which made a commendable contribution of E20 000, showcasing its dedication to social responsibility. This generous donation was pivotal in supporting the Lubombo Social Football Charity Cup, and Instacash further enhanced its involvement by injecting an additional E10 000 for the Home Coming tournament.
Following in their footsteps, Century Fashions and Easy Buy Supermarkets collectively contributed a noteworthy E30 000 towards the Hhohho Social Football Charity Cup, while Eteteni Engen Filling Station also donated E30 000 in support of the Shiselweni Social Football Charity Cup. The spirit of the Homecoming Tournament was further invigorated by significant contributions from Siphambanweni Milling, which provided E40 000, and Simunye Country Club, which added E15 000 to the cause. In the Manzini region, Insika Hardware generously donated E20 000 for its local Social Football Charity Cup, along with an extra E5 000 towards their Home Coming competition.
The Open Tournaments received enthusiastic backing from Khuba Traders, which sponsored the event E25 000 and Durable Paints, which contributed E20 000 for what was regarded as the final SARGE with tournament of 2024.
Achievements
In addition to the financial support, SARGE took the time to celebrate both individual and team achievements. The Matsapha Town Council Social Team was honoured as Team of the Year, while The George Hotel received accolades for their exemplary Fair Play. NTT Toyota was recognised as the Most Sociable Team, reflecting the camaraderie and sportsmanship that characterised the tournament. Individual honours were awarded to Bongani ‘Big Man’ Ngwenya of Simunye Social, who was named Player of the Year, and Maponya Ngozo of Nkhaba Social, who was celebrated as the Organiser of the Year.
The standout moment of the season was undoubtedly the Game of the Year: Mhlume FC Legends vs Simunye FC Legends, a thrilling match that captivated spectators at the Mkhuzweni Technical Centre on 29 June 2024. According to SARGE President Nathi Dlamini, the successes of 2024 extended far beyond the realm of football. “Participants experienced substantial improvements in fitness, which translated into enhanced productivity and a positive influence on their workplaces.
This positive ripple effect ultimately contributes to a stronger economy,” Dlamini remarked. He also conveyed heartfelt gratitude to all sponsors for their invaluable support, highlighting that these games are not merely recreational activities but crucial investments in nation-building. The organisers have called for continued support from both public and private sectors, emphasising that such partnerships are vital for the enduring success of social football initiatives across the nation.
