EBA TO CO-OPT 2 BOARD MEMBERS
MBABANE – The Eswatini Boxing Association (EBA) is poised to fill two vacant positions in its Board.
The appointment of an athlete representative to the board, as mandated by the constitution, is still pending. It has now been nearly two months since the position was left unoccupied. EBA Secretary General (SG) Nkosinathi ‘Ras Fela’ Dlamini confirmed to this publication, that the appointment processes will soon be finalised. The new EBA Board was elected on November 15, 2024, and will serve a four-year term.
However, not long after taking office, the Board faced a setback with the passing of a member, Kingsley Kunene. Kunene embarked on his boxing journey in 1990, with the Kid Mamba Boxing Club as a pugilist. He represented Eswatini at the 2014 Zone IV Games in Mauritius as a national team boxer. Subsequently, he became the manager of Kid Mamba Boxing Club in 2017, a position he held until his untimely death. Kunene had previously served on the EBA Board under President Benedict Bennett in 2000 before resigning. Dlamini stated that the association will swiftly fill his vacant position as well.
