NEW GOVERNOR FOR EZULWINI UNITED
MBABANE – Change.
A significant shift has occurred within ambitious MTN Premier League club Ezulwini United, as Emmanuel Nathi van Zuydam has been appointed as the new Governor. This change comes in the wake of former Governor Mbuso ‘Banks’ Dlamini stepping down from his position. The announcement, effective immediately, was confirmed in a letter from the club’s Chairman, Polycarp Dlamini, who also leads the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE). “Please receive this letter as a formal notification of a change of the club’s Governor,” the letter states, which was addressed to the PLE and also copied to the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) yesterday. The outgoing Board of Governors (BoG) representative of the PLE is notable for being the founder of the team, which originally operated under the name Tinyosi.
The club rebranded to Ezulwini United after acquiring the PLE status from Tambuti FC last season. Van Zuydam is the Managing Director of Luphohlo Commodities, the club’s primary sponsor, instrumental in securing a sponsorship deal worth E650 000. This sponsorship was officially announced at Sigwaca House on September 11, 2023. Luphohlo Commodities contributed E450 000, while the deal with sports supplier Umbro was valued at E200 000, bringing the total sponsorship to E650 000. Enquiries made to United’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Guy Magongo, directed this reporter to the club’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nsindiso Tsabedze. However, Tsabedze declined to comment, stating that such matters were to be addressed by the chairman. Efforts to confirm whether the PLE had received the official notification were unsuccessful, as the Acting CEO, Pat ‘Kungumusa’ Vilakati, was unavailable for comment at the time this report was compiled.
