PLE SUSPENDS STAR DEFENDERS
MBABANE – The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) has announced the suspension of two prominent defenders.
These are Siphosethu Mabilisa of Mbabane Swallows and Vusumuzi Vilakati of Mbabane Highlanders, due to disciplinary infractions. The suspensions come as the league approaches its crucial final first-round matches. Vilakati will be sidelined for the Highlanders’ much-anticipated clash against Ezulwini United, scheduled for Sunday at Mavuso Sports Centre. Meanwhile, Mabilisa will also miss the Swallows’ showdown against the unpredictable Illovo, taking place at the Mkhuzweni Technical Centre in Northern Hhohho on the same day.
The PLE Acting Chief Executive Officer, Pat Vilakati, has officially released the list of suspended players, which includes players from both the top division and the second tier of the country’s football. This decision is in accordance with Article 6.2 (a) of the 2024/25 MTN Premier League Rules and Regulations, which stipulates that a player receiving three consecutive yellow cards faces a one-match suspension.
