EX-’DOWNS MIDFIELDER FANIE PASSES AWAY

MBABANE – The cruel hand of death has once again cast a long shadow over Eswatini football with the passing of Denver Sundowns legend and former Sihlangu midfielder, Fanie ‘The General’ Terblanche.

According to a source, the revered player met his untimely death on Thursday night. “It’s unbelievable as Fanie was well on the day he met his death,” the source remarked. The sad news was confirmed by his brother, Denis, who revealed that the legendary midfielder passed away late on Thursday night. “He was well until he was attacked by asthma, but God will give us strength in this difficult time,” Denis said.

Arrangements

He further mentioned that the family is currently working on funeral arrangements and will provide updates throughout the week. According to some of the legends of the country’s football, the loss of ‘The General’ is a significant blow to Eswatini football.
