STRONG BOXING SQUAD FOR REGION V GAMES
MBABANE – The Eswatini Boxing Association (EBA) has announced a formidable squad for the upcoming 2025 Region V Youth Games. According to Nathi Dlamini, the Secretary General of the EBA, the association is confident that the selected athletes will strive to bring pride to the nation. “We have chosen a strong squad for the 2025 Africa Union Sports Council Region V Youth Games, and we believe that all the athletes selected will make the country proud,” he stated. Dlamini further emphasised that the athletes will undergo rigorous preparations for the tournament, aiming to return home with medals. Originally scheduled for June 6 to 15, the games, sanctioned by the Africa Union Sports Council (AUSC), have been rescheduled to accommodate the completion of examinations at the University of Namibia, which will serve as the official games village.

The university will also host a cultural festival and a polyclinic during this time. The eagerly-anticipated games are now set to take place in Namibia from July 4 to 13, 2025, marking the second occasion the country has hosted the event since its inception in 2006. The games were initially slated to be held in Mozambique; however, the country withdrew due to ongoing political and weather challenges, allowing Namibia to step in as the host. The event will encompass a diverse range of sports, including athletics and swimming in Swakopmund; table tennis, netball, e-sports, volleyball and boxing at the Windhoek Showgrounds; basketball at Deutsche Höhere Privatschule Windhoek; beach volleyball at Deutscher Turn-und Sportverein; and tennis at the Central Tennis Courts.
