MBABANE – While the main Ingwenyama Cup football tournament takes centre stage this weekend, cultural competitions are set to commence next month.
This was announced by the culture competition’s committee two days ago. The E1.2 million Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accidents Fund (SMVAF) cultural spectacular will begin in the Hhohho Region, according to Public Relations Officer (PRO) Sandile ‘Msandi Kababa’ Nxumalo. It is scheduled for Buhleni Sports Ground on Saturday, February 16.
The following day, the competitions will move to the country’s hub, where participating chiefdoms in the Manzini Region will gather at Mavuso Sports Centre. At the start of March, Shiselweni will host its competition, with the final event taking place in the Lubombo Region on March 2, 2025. The cultural competitions feature lutsango, emajaha, sibhaca, ingandla, and poets, who compete for lucrative prizes at both regional and national levels, although these are yet to be revealed.
Nxumalo also revealed that registrations will open on Monday, with interested chiefdoms and individuals able to collect registration forms from their respective Regional Administrators’ (RAs) offices. Forms must be returned by February 8, 2025. The committee also announced songs for the competitions, which are different from those used in the previous edition.
