EMAJUKUJUKU TO PAY OVER E65K COMPENSATION
MBABANE – Following the violence that erupted at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground earlier this month, Emajukujuku are allegedly facing a hefty penalty.
Chaos ensued on Sunday, January 5, 2025, during the Ingwenyama Cup Hhohho regional finals held at the venue. A violent altercation occurred between two sets of supporters as Emajukujuku and Zibonele Vultures battled for a place in the next round.
Ntfonjeni Member of Parliament (MP) and Vultures’ Director Raymond Dlamini was caught in the crossfire. He was forced to flee the venue as stones and other objects were thrown at his car. Reports suggest that the Hhohho Super League team has appeared before the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Disciplinary Committee (DC) to answer charges of misconduct. Emajukujuku were found guilty and ordered to compensate for the damage of property caused during the skirmish.
“The EFA Disciplinary Committee ordered a fine of E3 000 and compensation for damaged property amounting to E66 000, bringing the total to E69 000,” a source revealed. Meanwhile, Emajukujuku Public Relations Officer (PRO) Sihlahla Ngubane confirmed that they appeared before the DC two days ago, but were yet to receive full and official details of the charges. The remorseful PRO said they have further engaged their fans to avoid recurrence of such incidents in the future.
“We shall be having our own marshal too to guide against any chance, if it may be, but we trust that our fans will be respectful and have taken the advice from our Monday meeting,” Ngubane said. Efforts to obtain confirmation of the charges from Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Prosecutor, Sibusiso Manda, were unsuccessful. Manda’s phone rang unanswered when called yesterday. ‘Sicamelo’, as the team is nicknamed will today clash against Madlenya for the last 16 spot at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground at 1pm.
