SETHU TAKES ‘BIRDS’ TO STATUS COMMITTEE

MBABANE – Want-away Mbabane Swallow’s player, Siphosethu Mabilisa has taken his team to the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Players’ Status Committee (PSC).

The highly rated defender who resigned last week Friday is involved in a contractual dispute with his team, Umkhonto KaShaka. The Nsindiso Gama-coached side is accused of failing to honour the terms of the player’s contract, which includes a salary that has been outstanding for the past three months, much against the agreed terms and conditions after signing for the club.

The capital city giants are currently enduring a difficult period, with allegations that players have not been paid for the past three months. Their last payment in September only covered half of their salaries. According to the latest developments, the Swallows players, who joined the club during the 2021/2022 season, went to the status committee to drop off his letter at Sigwaca House yesterday afternoon.

Speaking exclusively to this publication, Mabilisa confirmed the authenticity of reports that he had lodged a formal request with the Players’ Status Committee. “Yes, it is true that I took my case to the PSC, seeking their intervention to address my situation and grant me the freedom to join another team,” Mabilisa revealed, expressing his desire to exercise greater control over his own professional trajectory.

Meanwhile, when a player files a complaint with the PSC against their club, it means that they are seeking a formal intervention to address an issue or dispute. The PSC serves as an impartial arbiter that listens to both the player’s and the club’s arguments and makes a ruling based on the applicable regulations and rules. This can involve various issues, such as contract disputes, transfer disagreements or unfair treatment by the club. The goal of taking the matter to the PSC is to ensure a fair and transparent resolution to the dispute, protecting the rights and interests of both parties involved.

The Swallows defender who has made the left-back position his own is reportedly on the wanted list of Young Buffalos, who recently signed former Swallows player Leon ‘Schuster’ Manyisa. Meanwhile, Swallows Public Relations Officer (PRO) Knowledge ‘Bhambo’ Ngwenya declined to comment on the matter.
