I WAS SEEING SNAKES - ROYAL SWALLOWS PLAYER
MANZINI – Masundvwini Royal Swallows defender Bongani ‘Smally’ Dlamini recounted a harrowing tale of his experience during the Ingwenyama Cup Last 32 fixture against Green Mamba.
During the gripping Ingwenyama Cup fixture between Masundvwini Royal Swallows and Green Mamba, disaster struck for Dlamini as he cleared the ball from his box, causing him to become disoriented and hallucinate on the pitch. As his teammates and the crowd watched in horror, quick-witted Green Mamba pounced; securing a decisive 1-0 lead over the reeling Swallows through the relentless Njabulo Ndlovu.
Still grappling with the aftermath of his harrowing experience, the strong defender shared a detailed account of his accident in a post-match interview. “Everything just turned dark and my wrist couldn’t move as it was stiff and I was in pain. I was only seeing snakes and I still don’t know what caused all of this,” he said.
Despite being clear of any pre-existing medical conditions, Dlamini was adamant that his exit from the game had paved the way for Green Mamba’s eventual goal, revealing a marked confidence in his abilities as a defender. “If you could notice Green Mamba scored their goal just two minutes after my injury and this was very scary for me to see,” he added.
