BUILD IT U-13 FINALE: E10 000 BURSARY, WATER TANK, BIKE UP FOR GRABS
MBABANE – Prize galore!
The 2024 Build it Under-13 development Football Tournament will reach its climax today at the Mavuso Sports Centre, with eight teams from Build it Stores across the country vying for the championship title. This year’s edition promises a thrilling spectacle with over 100 young players battling for a range of enticing prizes.
The most coveted prize is the E10 000 award for the tournament’s best player, which will significantly contribute towards the winner’s school fees.Last year, Wenkhosi Dlamini from the Nhlangano Store claimed this prestigious award, while his team also emerged as national champions.
Goalscorer
According to Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi ‘Rhoo’ Radebe, the top goalscorer will receive an equally impactful prize: a 2 500-litre Africa Tank reservoir valued at E3 000.
“In a region where access to clean water can be a significant challenge, this prize will be a lifeline for the goal scorer’s family.
The tank will enable them to harvest rainwater, ensuring a reliable and sustainable water supply for drinking, cooking and other essential needs,” Radebe said. He said the best goalkeeper will be rewarded with a more modest but equally valuable prize – a bicycle worth E1 900.
“This will provide the young goalkeeper with a valuable mode of transport, facilitating easier access to school and other essential destinations,” he added. The tournament is not only a platform for showcasing young football talent, but also a valuable initiative that directly benefits the players and their families.
