INGWE LEAVE MAMBA GREEN WITH ENVY
BIG BEND – Royal Leopard emerged victorious over defending champions Green Mamba in a thrilling Ingwenyama Cup encounter. The two-time champions, under the tutelage of Ernest Mavuso, suffered a crushing blow as they were defeated 1-0 by their long-time rivals Royal Leopard in an enthralling Ingwenyama Cup fixture. The game, played before an energised crowd of over 1 000 spectators, saw Thokozani ‘Thikithi’ Dlamini, Leopard’s dynamic midfielder, seize the solitary goal in the first-half, delivering a decisive blow to Mamba’s title defence aspirations.
While ‘Inyoka Eluhlazane’s’ valiant effort proved futile in the face of ‘Ingwemabalabal’s’ unrelenting attack, other fixtures delivered their own share of drama and excitement. Manzini Sea Birds continued to soar high, overwhelming Nkwene Sundowns with a resounding 6-0 victory, while Moneni Pirates left Rangers in a demoralising 0-3 defeat.
Young Buffaloes, meanwhile, galloped past Pigg’s Peak Rangers in an emphatic 4-0 triumph. On a thrilling Sunday, the competition saw Mbabane Swallows soar to a 3-0 triumph over CK Survivors, while Ezulwini United locked horns with Red Rhinos, emerging victorious with a hard-fought 2-0 win. The victories of both teams ensured their passage into the quarter-finals, where the stakes continued to rise with a lucrative E1.45 million reward awaiting the eventual champions.
